Velasco VITALI @ TOD'S during Uptown Design Tour

Velasco VITALI @ TOD'S during Uptown Design Tour

From 11/09/2019 To 28/09/2019

With boundless energy and determination, Italian artist Velasco Vitali (born Bellano 1960) disembarks in Brussels during Uptown design. For more than 20 years now Velasco Vitali has studied extensively the theme of lost (ghost) cities; painting them, sculpting impressions and creating monumental installations inspired by the often desperate situations that led to their abandon. Among these art installations, we find “Branco” (translate: pack). The central figures of this exhibition are dogs, desolate individual members of a disoriented pack of strays that invade the space, depriving its visitors and its occupants of their usual space. These dogs, who’s destinies have always been inextricably bound to Man’s, draw the viewer’s attention to the most problematic and desperate aspects of the human condition, from loss of individual identity to the hopeless adventures of mass migration.

"Thinking about Things" - Markus HOFER, solo show

From 07/02/2019 To 28/02/2019

"The visible truth, the things, the objects, the persons, the situations, carry in themselves a microcosm that goes beyond their functional or relational appearance in the macrocosm... Markus Hofer's way of looking at objects turns the original form and function into something new, that, however, doesn't lose the tie with the original object from which it drifts. It's meanings are upgraded, emphasized, multiplied. The existing truth becomes a point of departure that is not to be cited, but to be disarticulated, to be unhinged in its certainties. By that new answers to what surrounds us are being searched." (from "The madness of the Glance" by Elisa del Prete)
