Astrolomia, by Velasco Vitali

Astrolomia, by Velasco Vitali

From 11/10/2018 To 01/12/2018

For his third solo exhibition in Brussels, Velasco Vitali takes un on a journey inspired by Marco Polo’s “Il Milione”(Book of the Marvels of the world). Il Milione is not the diary of a trip, but an oral story dictated 26 years after the Asian crossing, by a Marco Polo imprisoned in Genoa. It is an evasion through the imaginary labyrinths of memory, a mental and narrative invention in which the events remembered are still, inexhaustible and immovable images. Velasco translates them into solid but indefinite sculptures that suggest a journey and at the same time a scam: a lie by the memory, by the story, of an impossible to verify oral tradition that can yet inspire visions and be transmitted.

Hybridization and duality, from equilibrium to unstability

Hybridization and duality, from equilibrium to unstability

From 06/09/2018 To 30/09/2018

“Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see”.
(René Magritte)

There is never anything that is exact when you talk about human nature. No one is alike - No one acts the same - No one wants the same. And no one will only have one kind of quality in their nature. It’s here the duality comes in. It’s a balancing act on life's great slack wire. Keep the balance in some way and you will go on. Loose your balance …
In Nietcheze's view on duality, Man has two conflicting sides based on the Greek gods Apollo and Dionysis. The Apollonian side restricts human freedom, sets boundaries, follows rules... The other force of our nature is the complete opposite. The Dionysos force had no boundaries, no rules, no limits. Life is a complete celebration of existence.
As individuals who want too enjoy life and be productive, healthy and free. We need to find the right balance and not let these forces come into conflict with each other so it destroys us.
This new exhibition aims at presenting a careful selection of artworks which take us to the core of our humanity, to the complexity we witness in each and everyone. Ambiguous, dual, strange or even hybrid creations that might shed some light on some of our more hidden forces.

Shadow Stories - Beth Carter

Shadow Stories - Beth Carter

From 18/04/2018 To 15/06/2018

Beth Carter's exhibition titled «Shadow Stories» makes us wander through one of her preferred themes: The Night. A world of shadows in which wander bizarre and hybrid creatures. It powerfully evokes the products of our subconscious, born in this small corner of our minds where dreams and nightmares come to life. Beth Carter roots her inspiration in the enchanted and sometimes disrespectful world of childhood. Another powerful source would be classic mythology, rewritten to invent new hybrid and anthropomorphic creatures. She also tackles gender theories, Darwin evolution and multiplies representations of death reaping sleeping bodies, illustrating how precarious our lives can be. To bring back sense, we reach far within our own history, our personal references, fears or desires. Our feelings shift from attraction to repulsion, mixed to this awkward desire to always see more, like a frightened child hiding his face behind his hands, yet incapable of resisting the urge of spreading his fingers to watch a dreaded scene.

Art Paris Art Fair - duo expo Lucien Murat and Clothilde Gosset

From 05/04/2018 To 08/04/2018

LKFF presents a duo exhibition contrasting two French artists, both of the same generation but whose artistic propositions bring us from light to darkness, from peace to chaos… Clothilde Gosset (France, 1983-…) The theme of Nature, essence of her creations, strikes us by its elegant simplicity and its strength. Fascinated by changes, mutations, growths and evolutions, Clothilde Gosset explores all art forms through ethical and sustainable values. Her fingers work the wood as if it were lace, domineering shadows and light with an impressive finesse. Lucien Murat (France, 1986 - …) Fascinated by the concept of the end of the world, its representation and its impact on the “collective unconscious”. His canvases are patchwork of carefully chosen old- fashioned classic decorative tapestries one could find in each grandmother’s home in France - sewn together. Under his paintbrushes, they are transformed into immense colorful tapestries, questioning the fantasized grandiose of chaos, constantly flirting between absurd and grotesque.

Emergence - Solo exhibition Armen Agop

Emergence - Solo exhibition Armen Agop

From 25/01/2018 To 31/03/2018

A line is a very elemental entity. Agop explores various situations where lines emerge from different compact forms, seeking the outside world. Sharp lines appear, cutting through the space. Less sharp lines are vague apparitions initiating outer contact. Although these forms are quite compact and contained the emerging lines have an optimistic presence, suggesting growth and expansion. Agop describes his obsessive process as a meditative practice, a rituality which seeks an interior cosmos and explores a spacial depth. Observing and re-observing a line, sculpting it and re-sculpting it, each time discovering a new way of being and a different dimension of existence.

Clothilde GOSSET - Silva3

Clothilde GOSSET - Silva3

From 16/11/2017 To 13/01/2018

During the cold winter seasons, it’s a pleasure to get carried away by the gentle poetry of Clothilde Gosset’s sculptures. Leaves, branches, truncs are delicately chiseled. The Silva3 exhibition wants itself soothing, like a walk through the forest where all our senses awaken. Everything seems surprisingly familiar, suggesting perfumes of humid earth or drying leaves, the cracking of branches and leaves underneath our steps...
