SLICK PARIS 2013

SLICK PARIS 2013

From 24/10/2013 To 27/10/2013

Just like the crazy alphabetical of an unlikely fabric of the world, or a hybrid and timeless mythology, the ferocious engravings of Frederic Penelle converse with the sharp video art of Yannick Jacquet (alias Legoman) – or is it the other way around? – to illustrate in a clean and funny way the undoubted nonsense of our world, the untraceable origin of eggs and their chickens, of scientists and their machines, of our brains and their hallucinations. This insanely absurd demonstration hick-ups and smiles, most of all of our own uncontrolled flooding and smoking, of our mechanical vanities. (translation of original text by F. Delvoye)
After winning the Collector's Prize at Slick Brussels 2013, the 2 artists are back in Paris to present their very last creations.

Les Deux Garçons - Une Journée Ordinaire

Les Deux Garçons - Une Journée Ordinaire

From 05/09/2013 To 19/10/2013

“ Une Journée Ordinaire ” (An Ordinary Day), three insignificant words that suggest a world of ideas... This is the title that Dutch artist duo «Les Deux Garçons» (Michel Vanderheijden van Tinteren & Roel Moonen) chose to introduce us, for the first time in Belgium, with their extraordinary art. They breathe new life, but also new meaning, into animals and/or objects they choose to resurrect. Fascinated by the fleeting and random aspects of our existence, by the subjectivity behind the notions of good and evil, they confront the beholder with their odd, yet beautiful, endearing, yet shocking sculptures.

Jean-Paul Blais & Xavier le Normand -

Jean-Paul Blais & Xavier le Normand -

From 07/03/2013 To 25/04/2013

« Without black, no color has any depth ». Black isn’t a primary, secondary, or tertiary color. In fact, black isn’t on the artist’s color wheel and usually isn’t considered a color at all. In certain ways, black represents space, specifically outer space and infinite space. There’s also a mystery to things that can’t be defined, or seen, and the color black often accentuates anything with those mysterious or indefinable qualities. This exhibition illustrates the infinite depth of black through two amazing artists introducing, for the first time in Brussels, French glass artist Xavier le Normand, laureate of the prestigious « Prix Liliane Bettencourt pour l’Intelligence de la main » alongside Swiss wood sculptor Jean-Paul Blais, renowned for his deep black reliefs.

Mécaniques Discursives, F. Penelle - Y. Jacquet

From 18/04/2013 To 21/04/2013

Installation born from the encounter of the engraver Fred Penelle, with video artist Yannick Jacquet. « Mécaniques Discursives » is therefore a unique mixture of engraving and video projection. The combination of both artists minds results in a strange machinery of the absurd. A poetic narrative unfolding across walls like some exquisite skeleton using the principle of a chain reaction as its starting point. Opening at Slick Brussels 2013.

Mario Dilitz

Mario Dilitz

From 17/01/2013 To 02/03/2013

The sculptor Mario Dilitz combines traditional sculptural knowledge and technical skills with very contemporary issues. Thereby he manages to create sculptures of great intensity and appeal. His work does polarize. There is a strong contrast between the aesthetic beauty of his sculptures and the content of the issues, where a profound confrontation with the vagaries of human existence takes place. Even his choice of material reveals these contradictions. His sculptures, most of them lifesized, are created out of high quality laminated wood. After a process of destruction and then construction the wood has reached a new form of stability, which wouldnʼt have been possible in its natural condition. This process is made visible by the joints of glue in the laminated wood. Mario Dilitz chooses red glue thereby signing his creations unmistakably.
